Stop the $400 million madness in Kew Gardens

On Wednesday, September 8 we're organizing a major day of action to publicly call on all politicians to sign the Fight Washington Corruption pledge.

There's an event in Kew Gardens on Wednesday, Sep. 8, 2010, at 12:00 PM. Can you make it?

Dear MoveOn member,

$400 million.

That's the amount that corporations and their right-wing allies are pouring into Republican campaign coffers this election season.1 The Other 98% of us—folks like you and me—can't compete financially with these big bucks.

Thanks to the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, corporations are spending unprecedented sums this year to buy our elections. We need to put a stop to this corporate corruption once and for all. That's why MoveOn members are calling on all politicians to stand up to big corporations and endorse our three-point pledge to stop the corporate influence on government.

Nearly 150 members of Congress and candidates have already signed the pledge, but hundreds have yet to commit. So, next week—the last week of the congressional recess—we're asking every remaining member of Congress and candidate to sign the pledge.

Local MoveOn members are organizing an event in Kew Gardens on Wednesday, Sep. 8, 2010, at 12:00 PM. Can you make it?

By signing the Fight Washington Corruption pledge, politicians are committing to stand for the Other 98% of us who don't have expensive lobbyists. But many politicians are still wavering in their support. Big corporations and Republicans have money—but we have people power. We need to send a loud and clear message that politicians need to stand up to Big Banks, Wall Street, and Big Oil.
