Biggest weekend of action yet

Time is running out to save our heroes and help dozens of other brave Democrats win on November 2nd. So we're mobilizing for our biggest weekend of action yet this year. Can you host a "Save our Heroes" call party in Inwood on Oct. 23rd or 24th?

Host a party
Dear MoveOn member,

Russ Feingold, Barbara Boxer, Alan Grayson, Tom Perriello, and other progressive leaders have a Republican bull's-eye on their backs this election year. And polls show many bold progressives are in real danger of losing in November—unless we all step up right away to save them.1

In short: Our heroes are in trouble—can you host a party next weekend to help them?

These are heroes like Sen. Feingold, who stood alone in voting against the PATRIOT Act just days after 9/11, and Sen. Boxer, a leader on climate change and protecting a woman's right to choose. And like Rep. Perriello, who stood tall against Big Insurance during the health care debate, and Rep. Grayson, a populist hero who's never afraid to call out the pernicious corporate influence in Washington.

Without them in Congress, it'll be easier for Republicans and their corporate allies to steamroll awful legislation—because often what it takes is the leadership of a brave and bold progressive to stop the madness.

We simply can't let them lose on November 2nd. So we're gearing up for the biggest weekend of action yet this election year: "Save our Heroes" house parties next weekend. We'll recruit volunteers to help get out the vote for our heroes and dozens of other Democrats nationwide. These campaigns urgently need help to reach all their targeted voters, so we've set an ambitious goal of 500 parties and 150,000 recruitment calls. We'll need everyone to pitch in to meet that goal!

We'll have help making these parties really special directly from some of our heroes—like Alexi Giannoulias, a 34-year-old progressive champion running for President Obama's former Illinois Senate seat. Giannoulias, who's in the closest Senate race of the year, will connect to the parties live for a conference call Saturday at 6 p.m. eastern. So we're encouraging everyone who can to have their parties then. (Of course, if you can't, you should still plan a party—we'll share a recording of the call.)

Hosting is simple, but so important. By hosting, you're giving other progressives in the area a place to come together to take action, multiplying your own impact and helping stop the takeover.

Here's how it works:

  • You choose a location—your house, a friend's, a room at a local community center—for people to hang out and make calls. Then we'll email other MoveOn members nearby to invite them—and you can invite your friends, too, of course.
  • We'll send you info on how to join the call with Alexi Giannoulias on Saturday, or how to listen to the recording if your party is at another time. And stay tuned—we'll have more news on other progressive heroes' participation coming soon.
  • We'll send you instructions on how to get lists of who to call, a script for what to say on the phone, and all the info you need. And on the day of your party, we have live volunteer support via phone or email.

This will be our biggest weekend of action yet—if we all pitch in. Can you host a party in Inwood? Click here:
