Host a Teach-in to Save the Economy

Bold, innovative ideas are key but, like Robert Reich said last night, "Powerful elite interests won't yield to good ideas alone. We need to organize."
Dear MoveOn member,

When MoveOn members and Robert Reich joined forces earlier this year to launch our "The Big Picture: Ideas to Save the Economy" people's media project, we knew we had something good on our hands—but we've been blown away by what happened.

Those MoveOn and Reich videos have been viewed 8 million times—without a stitch of help from mainstream corporate media.

Now we have a remarkable opportunity to reach even more people with commonsense solutions focused on making our economy work for everyone. MoveOn members are hosting Teach-ins to Save the Economy all around the country on Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19. We'll watch a limited-edition DVD of Robert's "Ideas to Save the Economy" video series, and learn how we can make these ideas a reality.

We need someone to host a teach-in in Inwood. Will you sign up now to receive a limited-edition DVD of the "Ideas to Save the Economy" series by hosting a teach-in?

I'm signing up now.

In the last several months, thanks to MoveOn members coast-to-coast, we've built popular support for big, game-changing, and wholly necessary ideas—ideas like making polluters pay for poisoning our air and water, ending brutal mass incarceration, reinventing public education, taming Wall Street, busting up our nation's biggest banks, strengthening unions, expanding Social Security and Medicare, and more.

Sure, solid, innovative ideas are essential, but, like Robert said last night on a national call with MoveOn members, "Powerful elite interests won't yield to good ideas alone. We need to organize."

MoveOn members are coming together on Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, at hundreds of Teach-ins to Save the Economy to watch four of Robert's most exciting short videos. After the videos, we'll dig into ways to spread and campaign for the ideas MoveOn members find most exciting.

Will you host a Teach-in to Save the Economy in Inwood on Saturday, July 18, or Sunday, July 19?

Yes! I'll host a teach-in.

Amazing MoveOn volunteers are standing by to offer all the support you'll need. And if you sign up before July 8, we'll send you a limited-edition DVD of the "Ideas to Save the Economy" series. It could well be a collectible one day!

Hosting a teach-in will be both fun and rewarding. We'll invite MoveOn members in your area (and help you recruit other folks to join) and supply you with a creative agenda and lots of resources. And you'll get to meet fellow MoveOn members—the most thoughtful, observant, passionate people around.

There's no quick fix for the enormous challenges we're tackling together. It's clear that we're at the beginning of a long-haul piece of work, driving to the 2016 elections and beyond.

We need a strong base of committed, informed allies in local communities coast-to-coast if we're to prevail. It's as plain and simple as that. And there's no better way to build the foundation we need than by organizing hundreds of summer Teach-ins to Save the Economy.

Please sign up to host one today.

Thanks for all you do.

–Jo, Alejandro, Anna, Brian, and the rest of the team
