Vigil for peace in Inwood?

Dear MoveOn member,

Going into August, war hawks like Senator Ted Cruz boasted that overwhelming opposition at town halls across the country would derail the historic nuclear deal with Iran.1

Boy, was he wrong. All through August, MoveOn members and our allies showed up at town halls and rallied outside of congressional offices. We made thousands of phone calls, and hundreds of thousands of us signed petitions. And now we're just a handful of votes away from ensuring that this deal passes through Congress in a few weeks.2

We are SO close. Now we need to get past the finish line. Next week, members of Congress will be back in Washington, preparing to take one of the most important votes of their careers. The first votes could come as early as next Thursday—and we need to be ready to send the message that voters across the country want peace and diplomacy instead of war.

That's why we're organizing Vigils for Peace and Diplomacy across the country next Thursday, September 10 at 6 p.m. local time. This could be our last chance to send this message loud and clear to Congress: Support peace and diplomacy over war and militarism.

Can you help organize a vigil in Inwood? Click here to get started.

Because you are one of MoveOn's most active members on this issue, we're reaching out to you first to see if you can help with our final wave of actions to support this deal. Just post an event at the link above, and our organizing team will connect you to other MoveOn members in your area and help you prepare for a great event.

As a nation, it seems like war is all we've known for the past 14 years.

But in the next few weeks, we have an amazing opportunity—to embrace diplomacy over war as a way to resolve our international differences. Our opponents are still spending millions on ads and even threatening to fund primary campaigns against those who support diplomacy—so we can't afford to let up one inch ahead of these critical upcoming votes.

We need someone to step up and help organize an event in Inwood. Can you help lead a Vigil for Peace and Diplomacy on September 10 at 6 p.m.?

Yes, I can help organize this event.

Thanks for all you do.
