Democrats WON’T filibuster Trump SCOTUS nominee?!

Huge news: Senator Jeff Merkley—a bold, progressive champ from Oregon—is promising to filibuster Trump's Supreme Court nominee.

Dear MoveOn member,

The resistance is not optional.

Protesting is not optional.

Saying no to Trump's radical and bigoted agenda—and his Supreme Court nominee—is not optional.

That's the message we're sending to Senate Democrats, who—CNN reports—are considering allowing Trump's far-right-wing nominee, Neil Gorsuch, to be approved for the stolen Supreme Court seat without a filibuster.1

So far, there's good news: Already, one strong progressive senator, Jeff Merkley, has come out and pledged to "use every lever in our power" to block Trump's nominee. "This is a stolen seat," he said in an interview.2

Can you chip in to Senator Merkley's re-election campaign to thank him for boldly resisting Trump's Supreme Court nominee?

Yes, I'll chip in to support Jeff Merkley's re-election effort, as he fights to save the Supreme Court!

Here's the headline that should have progressives furious at Senate Dems right now:

CNN: Democrats consider backing off big battle
over Trump's Supreme Court pick

Nope. No way. We cannot allow this to happen. Not again.

After Republicans united to steal a Supreme Court seat from President Obama, we cannot allow them to shift the balance of SCOTUS without a fight.

Filibustering Trump's SCOTUS nominee is a moral imperative for the resistance. It is also not optional. Now is not the time for business as usual or playing by the same rules of the past.

The surging, energized grassroots resistance demands more. History will remember which of our leaders—like Sen. Jeff Merkley—showed up in this precipitous moment. And which fell short. MoveOn is working to hold lawmakers who fall short accountable and demand that they do better. But we also need to thank those who have our backs.

Will you thank Sen. Jeff Merkley for boldly leading the resistance to Trump's Supreme Court nominee in the Senate?

Yes, I'll chip in to Sen. Merkley's re-election campaign—to show that when progressive lawmakers stand up to Trump, we've got their backs.

The truth is, Senate Democrats have the means to completely grind the Senate to a halt—what they need now is the political will and courage to do it.3

There is an awe-inspiring resistance bubbling to the surface in communities across this country. The people are in the streets. We are doing our jobs. And Sen. Merkley is standing with us, giving voice to our grassroots efforts in the halls of Congress.

Will you help re-elect Sen. Merkley, who is leading the resistance to Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch?

Yes, I'll chip in to support Sen. Merkley—who is leading the charge to block and defeat Trump's SCOTUS nominee.

You are not alone. Keep resisting. We can stop Trump.

Thanks for all you do.
