Re: A truly transformative candidate

Hi Eddie—I want to follow up on the note Congressman John Lewis sent you about how together, one week from today, we can shatter a glass ceiling.

Hi Eddie—I want to follow up on the note Congressman John Lewis sent you about how together, one week from today, we can shatter a glass ceiling.

Stacey Abrams is running for governor of Georgia. And when she wins, she'll be the first Black woman ever elected governor of any state. Her leadership will move the South, and in turn, the nation, forward.

I know Stacey, and she inspires me and gives me hope for the future—from her efforts on criminal-justice reform and voting rights to blocking Republican attempts to undermine the economic security of working families.

That's why I'm joining with MoveOn, Rep. Lewis, and many others today for a moneyblast for Stacey Abrams. We're counting on thousands of people across the country chipping in $3—or whatever they can afford—and MoveOn has set an ambitious goal of raising $100,000 in one day to power her campaign to victory in the primary next Tuesday. Will you join us?

Yes, I'll chip in right now to the moneyblast for Stacey Abrams.

Stacey Abrams and her five siblings grew up in Gulfport, Mississippi, with three tenets: Go to school, go to church, and take care of each other. Despite struggling to make ends meet for their family, her parents made service a way of life for their children—if someone was less fortunate, it was their job to serve that person. This ethic—and her parents' unwavering commitment to providing educational opportunity for their children—made Stacey who she is today.

And at just 44 years old, she is one impressive woman! Before stepping down last fall to run for governor, Stacey was Georgia's first woman House minority leader. She is a graduate of Spelman College and Yale Law School, and she's worked as a tax attorney, co-founded a financial services firm that helps small businesses, and founded the New Georgia Project, which registered more than 200,000 voters between 2014 and 2016. On top of all of that, she's also an award-winning novelist!1

I really believe in Stacey Abrams. She fights for working families. She will be a voice for the voiceless and the most vulnerable. We need her leadership in our country and especially at this moment in history.

One week from today, Stacey Abrams can become the first Black woman ever to win a state's Democratic nominee for governor. But she can't do it without us. Her primary opponent has already spent more than $1.3 million of her own money on the race.

Please, be a part of today's moneyblast for this inspirational and transformative leader. Click here now to chip in $3—or whatever you can afford. 100% of your donation will go directly to her campaign.

Thanks for all you do.

–Senator Kamala Harris
